Prelegant was started with a simple idea in mind.

What if women could keep the same professional look while pregnant?

More women are working while pregnant, and they're working longer into their pregnancies. They do not want to slow down their career and more and more women are having children at a later age when careers are better established and financial stakes are higher.

The Prelegant Story

When Gila (Raphy's wife) attended the University of Chicago School of Business to get her MBA, she was already the mother of two children. She naturally got very involved with young mothers and mothers-to-be who were trying to best juggle their professional and personal lives – mothers in Business School are a small but very impressive and supporting group. One of the concerns that quickly arose during the recruiting season on campus was what should mom-to-be wear for interviews. Then Gila spoke with consultants she worked with and they too felt there was little they could wear to go to client meetings. They often had to compromise on their professional look; there was very little choice of designs and it was scattered around the web and hard to find.

Women needed a store dedicated to the working mom-to-be with stylish and elegant professional wear.

The Founders

Raphy and Yohann had already built a successful business in the women fashion industry. Without ever compromising on quality and service levels, they sold to retailers around the world women shoes designed in France, manufactured in Spain with Italian fabrics and leathers. So they accepted the challenge and launched Prelegant to bring European maternity professional wear to the American businesswomen.
